Matt is the Owner and Principal Engineer of Mangano Design Engineering & Permitting. Matt is a licensed Professional Engineer serving the La Jolla, San Diego, and broader Southern California community since 2012. Matt holds active licenses in multiple states across the US. He has specialized experience in the design of projects of any scale and material, utilizing historic and modern technologies. He also has experience with large-scope projects development and institutional projects. He is passionate about working with the entire project team (Architect, Contractor, Developer/Owner, Designer, and Suppliers) to phase projects and find the most efficient and cost effective solutions for the client. Matt is an avid surfer and soccer player.

Xander is a Project Engineer with Mangano Design Engineering Permitting. Xander was born and raised in San Diego. He graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering as well as a minor in Business. He also has his EIT Certification. Within our team, Xander is an integral part of design analysis, site investigation, structural detailing, drafting and modeling. Within the structural engineering realm, he is passionate about solving complex problems collaboratively. He also enjoys helping a design project come through the permitting and construction process, and seeing it maintain its structural integrity for many years to come, especially with California's strict seismic codes. Xander spends his time outside of work traveling and playing his favorite sports, basketball and flag football. His next trip is to: Spain!

Dana is the Manager of Business Operations and Strategy at MDEP. Dana was born and raised in San Diego, CA. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. She is currently a Master's in City Planning student at San Diego State University, and is interested in spatial and transit equity, community development, and sustainability. Her unique background has helped MDEP’s multidisciplinary company reach new heights. At MDEP, Dana manages the finance, marketing, recruiting, communications, and other key operations departments. During her free time, she enjoys going to concerts, trying new restaurants, and playing with her 3 dogs.

Lenard Tran has been a  Structural Consultant at MDEP since 2019. His main services are Design, Analyze and Provide QA to projects. He has experience in residential, commercial, flood control structures as well as dam, levees, and bridge inspections. Lenard graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering. He got his Master of Science in Structural and Earthquake Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.  He has a P.E license in the state of California.  In his spare time, Lenard spends his time traveling, reading, biking and photography. Lenard believes in providing our clients with the best structural engineering service while still keeping our client’s budget in mind with our multiple levels of value engineering. His favorite quote is: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” – Lao Tzu.

Sally is a Design Engineer with MDEP. Sally was born in Iraq and lived in Libya for eight years before moving to San Diego, CA. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. She conducts gravity and seismic calculations and extensive code research. She also provides high-end structural and architectural AutoCAD drafting.  Sally spends her time outside of work reading, playing chess, and taking care of her pair of love birds. Her next trip is to: London, United Kingdom, Egypt, Syria, Arabia!

Ivan Valdivia is an Architectural Designer with MDEP.  He earned his Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the Instituto Tecnológico de Tijuana and continues expanding his knowledge. He has been with MDEP for six months and has more than 12 years of Architectural experience in commercial and residential projects. He believes in creating comfortable and useful spaces according to the needs of the client, while combining beauty and effectiveness. Ivan loves to spend his free time exploring new places with his family. His motto is: "If you focus on something, no matter how complicated it is, you can always achieve it."

Jose Gomez is a Field Engineer with MDEP. He handles job site visits, structural drafting, calculations, 3D Modeling. He is currently attending Cal Poly Pomona and pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an expected graduation date of May 2023. He has a background in the construction, civil and structural engineering industry. Some projects include: highways/freeways, airports, bridges, and railroads. Something that keeps him motivated in the Structural Engineering industry is that he never stops learning. In his personal time, he likes to stay busy by going to the gym, golfing, and mixing music. He also enjoys watching basketball, football, and soccer. A quote that helps him stay motivated is: "If it were easy, everyone would be able to do it."

Within the structural engineering realm, she is passionate about learning different skills and techniques that she will use lifelong as she pursues her career. In her spare time, Fernanda enjoys going to the beach, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
